Ceramics Art Residency

The resident program offers a unique opportunity. You work and live on site at a ceramic design and production studio located downtown Barcelona, Spain. Located on the mediterranean sea it’s a European city of 5.6 million people.

We invite individuals from around the world to experience different cultures and new perspectives. The resident program offers the opportunity to work in a concentrated fashion over an extended period of time.

Studio experiences at Taller Gingell are as varied and unique as the individuals involved.

International Residency Program

The program provides the opportunity to open new paths, develop careers, and change perspectives.

We provide space, resources and time for artists to focus intensely on their craft. You explore new ideas and techniques, and push your work to new levels.

We designed the resident program for individuals in ceramics, craft, design and fine-arts who have a background or keen interest in ceramics. We offer the opportunity to conceive and create a project in a unique cultural context.

The goal is to provide artists from around the world, time and place to work on a specific project, work in a ceramics studio or conduct research in a diverse cultural setting.

Is the Taller Gingell International Resident program a fit for you?

It’s a place where you:

  • Create new work or series of works
  • Experience different cultures and new perspectives
  • Have freedom to work and focus over an extended period of time
  • Build your portfolio for further study
  • Experiment with new construction techniques and decoration
  • Create a project in a unique cultural context

How to Apply

The international resident program is ideal for individuals seeking to invest in their personal studio practice, complete a special project, or that simply need uninterrupted time to work in an art studio with a supportive environment.

We accept applications year round and are evaluated in about 2 to 6 weeks. New residents are selected by Taller Gingell and/or a rotating jury of other ceramic artists and curators. We maintain an inclusive, impartial, and open jury process. Submit what you feel is your strongest work. We request all necessary materials before assembling the jury.

Acceptance is dependent on evident and developed skill in an applicant's work, the ability of individuals to be self-directed with prior experience and knowledge about ceramic processes, as well as the availability of requested dates of attendance.

We evaluate applications based on:

  • Quality of the work
  • Artistic merit
  • How the residency program may benefit the artist and their larger community
  • How our local community would benefit from the artists residency

Residencies are offered for periods of 5 weeks.

Taller Gingell is a member of Resartis, a Worldwide Network of Arts Residencies, whose objective is to support and connect residencies, engage and advocate the importance of residencies in today’s society, and provide recommendations towards cultural mobility research and policy.
