    Ceramic sculpture intensive workshop

    Discover the art of life form sculpting in our exclusive, hands-on intensive workshop. This workshop offers an unique opportunity to develop sculpting skills under the guidance of highly trained and educated artisans. 

    Led by visiting instructors Emilia Rek (MFA) and Aleksandra Płonka (MFA), bring their extensive experience in fine arts and sculpture to provide an engaging and supportive learning environment.

    This exclusive workshop ensures a low student-to-teacher ratio of 4:1, allowing for personalised guidance and a successful sculpting experience.

    What you’ll learn and what we’ll do.

    Join us for a weekend dedicated to mastering the intricacies of sculpting the human head life form. You will be guided through sculpting concepts to compose an accurate and convincing portrait in three dimensions. Learn to deconstruct visual information, synthesise and create a new approach to it in clay.

    This is an in person, interactive, hands-on workshop.

    Workshop location

    The workshop takes place at the artisan ceramics studio of Taller Gingell in downtown Barcelona, Cataluña, Spain. Located in the Poble-sec neighbourhood next to Montjuic Park. The studio is about a ten minute walk to the Barcelona city center, port of Barcelona and Olympic Stadium. Accommodation recommendations are available on request.

    Workshop description

    • Introduction to Skull Anatomy: Learn the foundational anatomy and proportions of facial structures and features.
    • Hands-On Sculpting: Apply your newfound knowledge to sculpt a portrait in ceramic clay from a live model.
    • Focused Instruction: Guided sessions on portrait concepts, light, form, and contour movement in space.
    • Personalized Critique: Interactive demonstrations and individual feedback to help refine your sculpting technique.
