Cosmos-08 Dark Star

Discover the captivating beauty of Dark Star, a fluid, dark matte glaze that features iridescent crystals reminiscent of a beetle shell. This glaze breaks translucent, revealing a dynamic interplay of colors.

  • Application: Apply 4 coats to Cone 04 bisqueware
  • Firing: Optimal performance at cone 6, but it can be fired to cone 5.
  • Special Instructions: For best results, leave the inside or back of the form unglazed. This glaze does not require a special cooling schedule, but using a controlled cooling schedule can enhance crystal growth.
  • Runny Nature: Due to its tendency to run, stop the glaze about half an inch above the foot, or use a drip tray or soft bricks to protect kiln shelves.
  • Food Safety: Yes, this glaze is food safe. However, due to its durability, it is not recommended for surfaces that come into direct contact with food.

Elevate your ceramic art with the striking, iridescent effects of Dark Star glaze, ensuring careful application and firing for the most stunning results.
