Cosmos-13 Mars Crystal
Discover the stunning effects of Mars Crystal, a highly fluid, dark brick red glaze adorned with silvery, iridescent crystals. This glaze is opaque and darkens where it breaks, adding a dynamic quality to your ceramic pieces.
-
Application: Apply 4 coats to Cone 04 bisqueware.
-
Firing: Performs best at cone 6 but can be fired to cone 5.
- Special Instructions: For optimal results, leave the inside or back of the form unglazed. Mars Crystal can be fired with a normal medium-speed firing schedule, but using a controlled cooling schedule enhances crystal growth for a more vibrant effect.
- Runny Nature: This glaze is prone to running, so it’s recommended to stop the glaze about half an inch above the foot. Use a drip tray or soft bricks to protect kiln shelves.
- Food Safety: Yes, Mars Crystal is food safe. However, due to its durability, it is not recommended for surfaces that come into direct contact with food.
Elevate your ceramic artwork with the mesmerizing, iridescent effects of Mars Crystal glaze, ensuring careful application and firing for the best results.
